    Best time to visit Australia

    There’s never a bad time to visit Australia. In a country of varying climates, you can always find the ideal weather for you.

    High season: summer (Dec to Feb)

    • Wet season with high temperatures and humidity in the Top End (Northern Territory) and tropical regions.
    • Hot, sunny weather for the southern states of New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia.

    Shoulder season: autumn and spring (Mar to May and Sep to Nov)

    • Warm weather all round.
    • Autumn is a colourful time down south.
    • Spring is a great time for wildlife spotting.

    Low season: winter (Jun to Aug)

    • Dry season brings pleasant temperatures and clear skies up north.
    • Wrap up for the colder weather and rainy days down south.

     

Getting around

Transport in Australia is extremely good and easily accessible. Good news if you’re looking to do a multi-centre trip, however as one of the largest countries in the world, distances aren’t small. If you’re short on time, internal flights are usually very affordable and will save you some long journeys on the ground. Car hire (thankfully, Aussie’s drive on the left) is also a popular way to get around with pick up options at all major airports, towns and cities. For those who’d prefer not to be behind the wheel, buses and trains are frequent, or opt for an escorted tour if you want to spend more time looking out the window, taking in the view.

  • Sydney to Cairns = 3 hours 10 minutes
  • Sydney to Perth = 5 hours 10 minutes
